We offer the training courses for the following:

Emergency First Aid

Certification is valid for 3 years

Content
At the end of the course participants will be able to:

  • Assess situations and carry out appropriate action including informing emergency services
  • Carry out artificial ventilations and chest compressions
  • Place a casualty in the recovery position and know when to use this position
  • Clear obstructed airways
  • Control severe bleeding
  • Recognise and treat shock
  • Deal with chemical contamination
  • Understand the requirements for a first aid kit and how to report accidents in the workplace
  • Recognise and treat head injuries
In addition the following objectives are covered:
  • Deal with burns and scalds
  • Deal with poisons
  • Deal with fractures

Duration - One Day

Manual Handling – Safe Lifting

  • Job planning to avoid manual handling
  • Posture while working
  • How poor working practices can lead to ill health
  • Lifting and lowering
  • Carrying
  • Use of mechanical aids
  • Pulling
  • Pushing
  • Two-person operations

Duration - half a day or one day

First Aid at Work

  • Assessing situations and taking appropriate action, including informing emergency services
  • Artificial ventilations and chest compressions
  • Recovery position
  • Spinal injury recovery position
  • Clearing obstructed airways
  • Controlling severe bleeding
  • Recognising and treating shock
  • Requirements of a first aid kit
  • Reporting accidents in the workplace
  • Head injuries
  • Major illnesses
  • Burns, scalds and poisons
  • Chemical contamination
  • Strains, sprains, dislocations and fractures
  • Moving casualties safely
  • Miscellaneous conditions

Duration - 3 or 4 days

First Aid at Work - Reassessment

  • Content and objectives as the First Aid at Work, drawing attention to any changes in first aid techniques since previous training

Duration - Two days Trainees must be current holders of a nationally recognised First Aid at Work certificate
